Interpulse

Based in Melbourne, Richard Hinkson has 20 years of music experience and is an enthusiastic contributor to Australia’s outdoor festival and party community.

He is most recognized for his 8 years with Mantrix, who produced 6 albums and placed a strong emphasis on creating powerful live music productions with live instrumentation and tribal influences. With the completion of Mantrix in 2007, he has embarked on a new journey with his solo project Interpulse, his foray into deeper and more atmospheric sounds.

Drawing on influences from the progressive trance, techno and house  movement, Interpulse is focused on creating heart felt, forward thinking dance music with deep solid beats, multilayered sub-driven bass lines, spacious stereo fields and playgrounds of atmospheric FX - all at a BPM that even Jabba-the-Hut can shake to.

Less than a year old, this new project is receiving an outstanding response from both DJs and dancefloors across Australia and the world, with "Open Channel" from his debut release on Open Records, the Transcender EP making it to #7 place on the beatport psytrance charts and the also charting on Progressivehouse.com.

"I've listened to "Transcender" a lot over the last few weeks, and I can safely say that this release is one of the best progressive trance EP's I've heard this year. The style is fusion of tribal, outdoor-minded progressive trance and some techno elements and the variety is really good, with "Transcender" as the monstrous festival-tune, "Open Channel" as the deep and melancholic part of the release and "On A Peg" somewhere in between. Highly recommended"

"Transcender chugs along quite nicely, good energy that will be proper for the dancefloor. On A Peg is my next favorite, this will appeal to a lot of DJs with its shuffling percussion and syncopated rhythm. Overall, a strong package and I'm going to consider this for my October chart."

"Hypnotic sounds comming in from any diresction, and the percussion giving it a tribal groove is a perfect final
for the track."
- Manuel (Rosa Dei Venti Club - Monumento) Italy
“Fat production on what seems to be the new modern progressive psytrance. Cool stuff!”
- Pena (Flow / Flow Vinyl / Wolf Records) Portugal

"Transcender is a metallic trippy progressive number with a driving bassline, On a Peg is a little more atmospheric and chilled... In some ways Open Channel is a mixture of "Transcender" and "On A Peg" - floaty and metallic, a middle ground between tracks 1 and 2. In my opinion it sneaks it as the best track of the EP, something to end a club set or fit in very nicely into any radio set. When all is said and done, this all Aussie linkup definitely is of good quality. Three well produced tracks coming to us from Melbourne via Cairns. Lets hope for more releases from both parties in the near future."
- Chris Sterio - Progressivehouse.com Review

With plenty more music in the pipeline and a fanbase that is growing both at home and internationally, Open are proud to have Richie part of the team and is sure that Interpulse will become a name to watch in 2008 and beyond.
