Motive is Ed Rummery, hailing from Melbourne, Australia.
Playing as a representative for the Australian progressive label Open Records, his DJ sets incorporate the deeper tribal essence of the progressive sound with an emotive and dancefloor focus.
Born and bred in the famous Australian psytrance area of North Coast NSW and forever loving the emotional content of music, Motive originally was involved in the indie rock and blues/folk scene before going to his first trance party in 1999. Something clicked that day and electronic music has been his passion ever since.
He originally played psytrance under a number of different names before finding his passion for progressive trance in 2002. He then founded the production company Tonik Trance and was responsible for many parties in the area before moving to Melbourne in 2005.
Initially inspired by Australian Zenon artists and long-time friends SunControlSpecies, Sensient, Shadow FX, Tetrameth and Superfluous Nipple he has now moved into deeper styles of progressive trance/house influenced by such acts as Antix, D-sens, Infusion, Kasey Taylor and Minilogue.
It is this new direction that has seen him welcomed into the Open Records family and since then he has featured at parties across Australia and overseas performing a mix of progressive trance/house and tech/electro with an emphasis on massive basslines and monster grooves.
As a new step forward, Motive has now moved his production focus to a new level with his two latest tracks - 'Little bit eh?' and 'But Iz It' featuring in his current sets... expect plenty more in the future!
