Sol is a DJ and promoter based in Cairns, Australia.
He has been involved in the outdoor party scene for ten years and his commitment to sharing quality music and organising events in and around Cairns in earlier years has seen a solid network evolve into what is considered to be a 'very inspiring little scene'. After many years of organising smaller events, he has been involved in co-creating the annual Winter Solstice Festival which is definately a highlight event in the Australian festival calendar.
Sol has played at almost every festival on the east coast of Oz including Rainbow Serpent, Earthcore, Exodus, Superfreak, Maitreya, Earthfreq, Phonoscope and an extensive list of smaller events. His passion for electronic music and Djing has inspired a generation (or two or three!) and continues to do so as his style evolves with the ever-changing trends of dance music.
In recent years and especially after joining the Open records team, the Solatek sound has focussed more on the minimal side of the electronic music, playing a unique style of chunky, glitchy, twisted, progressive techno with a cheeky edge. This is also part of the concept of the compilation he is compiling with Paul Abad, due to be releeased in the Australia Summer of '08/09.
Sol is one of the hardest working players in the Australian underground dance music scene and as the label moves into new directions of minimal and techno inspired dance music, we are proud to have his years of experience an integral part of the Open Records team.
